A Junior Medical Officer (JMO) is a qualified medical practitioner who has completed their medical degree and is undertaking supervised clinical training during their first or second postgraduate year. JMOs are fully registered doctors who work under the guidance of senior medical practitioners while continuing to develop their knowledge, skills, and experience.

Deniliquin Clinic is proud to support the next generation of doctors by hosting JMOs for placements. During their time with us, JMOs gain valuable insight into rural general practice and community-based healthcare. This experience helps them develop a broad range of clinical skills and may inspire them to pursue a career in general practice, particularly in rural and regional communities where doctors are greatly needed.

JMOs are actively involved in patient care and play an important role within our medical team. They consult with patients in the clinic and often have additional time to spend discussing health concerns and conducting assessments. JMOs also assist at Deniliquin Hospital, with ward rounds and in the Emergency Department, and provide medical care to residents in Deniliquin's residential aged care facilities.

Patient safety and quality of care remain our highest priorities. All JMOs work under the close supervision of experienced general practitioners who oversee their clinical decisions and provide ongoing support and education. This collaborative approach ensures that patients receive thorough, high-quality care while JMOs gain valuable experience in a supportive learning environment.
